Biography: The Legacy Grows

Tough Enough to Wear Pink – Cattlemen’s Days of Gunnison Colorado was recognized as the #1 rodeo in the country for raising dollars to fight breast cancer. WRANGLER initiated a program in 2004 to raise awareness and funds to support the fight against breast cancer, while also showcasing the 15 top professionals in seven events. Now five years later, Wrangler stated, “TETWP™ Night returned to the Wrangler® National Finals Rodeo (Wrangler®NFR) this year. On Wednesday, December 10, the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas turned pink as the world’s best professional rodeo riders prove(d) they’re not only tough – they’re tough enough to wear pink.”

During the last three years this little town of 5298 residents and the adjoining communities within Gunnison County have raised over $210,000.00 for our own local breast cancer initiative leading the entire rodeo industry. This year at the Wrangler ® NFR, Gunnison’s program was awarded a matching $210,000 from Wrangler ® to carry on our drive to provide assistance in education, mammograms, ultrasounds and further diagnosis.

Cattlemen’s Days will celebrate 109 years of rodeo this July 16-18, 2009 while TETWP will celebrate PINK night July 16th. Be proud Gunnison County of your willingness to support each other not only with dollars but with your spirit to help those who must survive this disease.
