We want to make Gunnison an astronomy destination for students, educators, as well as the average family. The unique thing about this observatory is that it will be available for public viewing, and internet viewing for anyone who has a computer. Coming Soon !!

Gunnison Valley Peace Initiative — 4 members, Content: Public
The Gunnison Valley Peace Initiative is a small group of dedicated people who hope to provide a local network for peace minded individuals to come together. Our goals are to protest the war in Iraq and any other unjust wars paid for by the taxes of the American people. We aim to expand this initial goal by extending our protests with additional ideas and groups within the community. We hope to promote peace and positive thinking on an individual, communal, national, and global level. As our group grows, so hopefully will our influence inside and beyond the city of Gunnison. As a group we desire to make ourselves available to anyone who wants to rise above violence and injustice by providing an environment for thoughtful discussion and ideas for change. By doing this we hope to grow and flourish as a group, extending influence within other organizations in the valley. By being visible and active within the community we may not stop wars, but we can have a positive impact and help keep the spirit of peace alive.

Gunnison Valley Photographers — 2 members, Content: Public
Gunnison county and the surrounding area represents a very specific reason for why living in Colorado is such a blessing. This group is for anyone from Gunny who would like to share their photography with others in the area. Please feel free to share your favorite photo spots and get together with others for photo trips :)

Jubilee House — 3 members, Content: Public
Jubilee House promotes, educates, and advocates for violence free communities in Gunnison and Hinsdale counties. We assist individuals whose lives have been affected by violence by providing for their emotional, physical, and safety needs including advocacy, safe shelter, and counseling. All services are provided free and confidentially. ADVOCACY: Volunteer advocates are the heart of our program. Advocates are available to listen, offer support and encouragement, provide information, make referrals and arrange for shelter as needed. SHELTER: Jubilee House can offer three nights of safe shelter to someone who is afraid and in danger. COUNSELING: Individual counseling is available to adult and child victims of violence. VOLUNTEERING --We have lots of opportunities! Fundraising volunteer representatives ~ On-call advocates ~ Victim Advocate volunteers ~ Court Advocate volunteers ~ Children’s volunteers DONATIONS Your donation is tax deductible and greatly appreciated!

Save North Village Park in Mt. CB — 2 members, Content: Public
Save North Village Park is a group of citizens working to save 17 acres of land that has been previously planned for parks in the North Village plans- those plans are now allowing for one small park instead of 17 acres. We are looking for the public’s input and are hoping to make the planning process more open to the public. We want the process to include public debate and open meetings. We hope to dialog here with community members about people’s thoughts on the trade off’s between growth and saving our trails and open spaces. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship — 3 members, Content: Public
Our fellowship meets the first and third Sunday of every month, 10:30 a.m., at the Newman Center, 600 E. Georgia Ave. in Gunnison. We are a relatively small group and always welcome newcomers who want to see what we are about. Our fellowship promotes and affirms the following values: the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity and compassion in human relations; acceptance of one another and encouragement in spiritual growth; respect for the interdependent web of all existence.

Women's mountain biking group — 3 members, Content: Public
The women's mountain biking group is an informal group of ladies who love to get outside and ride the trails. We are of all abilities and maintain a non-competitive riding atmosphere. Anyone is welcome who wants to get out there and have some fun. We meet Mondays at 5:30 p.m. at the base area of Hartman Rocks, weather permitting. (We try to stay away from large lightening strikes.) We usually head out for a couple hours and sometimes split into a couple of groups — if we have varying levels or ideas in mind. When possible, we also sometimes congregate for weekend adventure in Moab or Fruita.
